Celebrations Draw Near
December 2011

Cycling PerthshireIt has been an up and down month, with calm, clear, beautiful weather for a few days, then winds swirling around. It has finally started getting colder.

Autumn ColoursWe have fitted another carpet in the living room of the flat. This should make it feel even cosier

The flowers in the village have lasted exeptionally well, but now the winter pansies and other delights are being planted to brighten the place up. Our Traditional Christmas Fair is taking place in The Square on the 8th December so we're hoping for good weather with plenty of people enjoying theselves. We'll be singing with the new Community Choir which is sounding great in rehearsal. It's our first outing so it should be fun. Wherever you are we hope you have a good festive season.

A new path has been opened from Hailes up to Abbeymill, so this allows an off road walk by the River Tyne from Haddington to East Linton, it then continues down to Dunbar. It is a few miles of utter delight. So now you can get a bus up to Haddington then walk back down river to the village, a green alternative indeed.

Further afield, I cycled with friends in Perth and Kinross. The area is very beautiful, with some difficult ascents. Unfortunately the weather was against us so we had to cut short the trip, managing only about 50 miles this time. I'm sure we'll be back though. I also took some video for 'Britain in a Day' and submitted it to the BBC (along with thousands of others, I'm sure). Who knows if it will be good enough.

The sunsets recently have been stunning, with rainbows, red and golden skies and glorious sunbeams shining out under the clouds - totally breathtaking atStrange Light times.

There are masses of events going on in the village, so have a look at the community's website - http://www.eastlinton.uk.com for information.

This month's photos are as varied as ever from various parts of Scotland.

Pay us a visit - it's always great to have guests and introduce them to our beautiful area. Recent visitors have been very pleased with their welcome and the facilities we offer.
